Cant map network drive  to me dlink nas
Hi Need help trying to map network to nas. I have other machines in my home network using Windows 7 professional, that are able to map. The one machine running Windows 7 home premium, cant. I can ping the nas, but cant map to it. I running out of things to test. Firewall is disabled and windows defender. Able to map using ip \\192.168.0.195, does anyone know why I cant use the name of the router instead ?

If you can do something with IP address and not with name, then there is problem with name resolution. There are several possibilities and adding record in hosts file is the simplest remedy when the problem is in one or several PCs. When you have problems like this one, then use troubleshooting tool like network monitor (either from MS or free Wireshark). Regards Milos

If you are running Active Directory create a new "A" record, otherwise like Milos suggested you can use a host file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc)
